If you don’t keep up your French over the summer you are likely to lose some of it.  Granted it will come back quickly, but why not hit the ground running instead of having to struggle to get your French back?  Here are some resources to maintain your French over the summer:

·         studentsoftheworld.info (penpals)

·         1jour1actu.com – good articles and videos at a more accessible level of French

·         Quizlet- search specific units from our textbook Discovering French (bleu-1 blanc-2)

·         Duolingo

·         Babbel- similar to Duolingo

·         Conjuguemos- practice verb conjugations as well as vocab practice organized by textbook

o    FR1- present tense of –er verbs, être, aller, faire, avoir, venir

o    FR2- present tense/passé composé of –er, -ir, -re verbs, être, aller, faire, avoir, venir, prendre, mettre, vouloir, pouvoir, devoir, boire, stem changing verbs (ex- répéter, acheter, envoyer)

·     Easy French is a great listening comprehension practice.  They interview French speakers around the world on different topics (about 5 min) with subtitles in French & English (occasionally try to not look at the subtitles)

·   Coffee Break French- is a series of 15-20 minute podcasts that you can listen to in order to work on listening comprehension and building vocabulary.  It is free, go to Podcasts, Coffee Break French, pick a season, click on a lesson and scroll down to find the audio file.  YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY.  

  • Lawless French- has a free sign up where you can take lessons & do writing prompts

·         On the blog, I have put a document with links to videosThe videos create a story and they are made for language learners but aren’t at such a dumbed-down level that you feel completely patronized.
